[net.startrek] Question on STIII novel

nova@abnjh.UUCP (Scott D. Allen) (07/06/84)

[That's what I get for missing staff meetings!]

I just finished reading the novel of STAR TREK III: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK
and an incredibly minor detail is driving me crazy (maybe its just a short
walk).

When the ENTERPRISE is making its break from Starbase, Uhura stays
behind to jam all the communication channels. This is what prevents other
starships from intercepting Kirk and crew. One of the things she does is
to mix in TV shows, old movies, and other entertainment into Starfleet
communications. One of the lines we hear is from an "old movie":

	"Who ARE those guys?!?"

Is this just some trivial line or does it have some significance? I seem to
remember it from somewhere but I can't place it. Anyone got any ideas?

I don't know, but it was also the title of a record by
the New Riders of the Purple Sage. (Erstwhile warm-up
group for the Greatful Dead.)

	I believe the line:

		"Who are those Guys"

comes from "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"
This was repeated in the scenes where Paul Newman
Robert Redford were being chased by the posse that
jumped out of the train following the one that they
blew up......Significance of this statement, well
the Enterprise got blown up, and maybe the posse is
	on the way......

As I recall, the line "Who ARE those guys?" appears in Butch Cassidy and the
Sundance Kid.

Of course, for all I know, they got it from somewhere else.

The line is from the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." It is
spoken several times while the title characters are trying to elude a
posse that they just can't seem to shake.

The line "Who *are* those guys?" was uttered more than once by Redford
and/or Newman in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". It referred to
the posse tracking them. It was better than Gene Wilder's "son of a bitch!"
in "Silver Streak".

"Who are those guys?" is a quote from the movie Butch
Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. "Those guys" refers to a posse
which Butch and Sundance were having difficulty eluding.

I think the reference is to the comments between Butch and Sundance
during their run from the posse.

"Who ARE those guys?!?" Why, none other than the posse tracking Paul
Newman and Robert Redford in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid".

the line, "who ARE those guys?" came from butch cassidy and the sundance
kid, starring robert redford and paul newman. they had robbed a train,
and were being tracked down by the greatest posse of lawmen every
assembled. no matter watch butch and sundance tried to do, they couldn't
seem to shake the posse, which prompted them to say more than once,
"who ARE those guys?"

Darn it! Now its driving me crazy!!!!

It's from a recent movie....Ghostbusters comes to mind, but I don't
think that's it.

Poo! Why did you do this to me? Now I won't be able to get to sleep...

It's probably from the "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" movie. Butch
and Sundance kept saying "Who ARE those guys?" about the Pinkerton detectives
who were following them who they just could not seem to get rid of.

It's the remark that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid keep making as
they are unable to shake the posse that's after them.

does anybody ever think to read responses before they reply with an answer??
I have now heard 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' 6 times.
Can you people first check if a question has been answered before cluttering
up the net with redundant answers???????
