<<>> several points: first of all, Kirk is not easily the "most revered human" on Vulcan. He must compete with Sarek's wife (Amanda, i believe) and Spock's mother. She has been living on Vulcan off and on for probably 30 years or more, except when she and Sarek were off being ambassador types. She has devoted much of her time on Vulcan to the learning and understanding of their ways and logic, and has progressed quite well (for a human :-). Kirk, on the other hand, only 'did the logical thing'(:-) (saving his friend's 'soul'). (See ST III novel for above) Second of all, i believe the name of the episode in which the children were rescued, was called 'The Dark Angel'. someone correct me if i'm wrong (no doubt about that :-). The Klingon super-ship is the Klingon B-10 (using Star Fleet Battles as a guide), and there is only one of them (in theory), since the Klingon military went virtually broke building it. actually, to be precise, they supposedly went broke before finishing it, but that doesn't mean much. it is easily more than a match for the old Enterprise, or any other ship of her class. Unless the Excelsior's fire-power and shielding were upgraded like the rest of her, she would be crunched by a B-10. That would be an interesting confrontation: That could be how the Excelsior bites it in the Klingon/Federation battle that someone else mentioned! Excelsior goes down before Klingon B-10. Federation decides that the design needs to be re-worked before production. ST V introduces brand new ship (new Enterprise?). There will *not* be physical evidence of the passages of the Enterprise, Grissom, and Klingon. The planet blew up! i suspect that all such evidence within a certain radius will be wiped out. in any event specifically what happenned around the planet will be gone. There may have been cameras on the Klingon bridge, but they might have been booby-trapped except for Kruge. Remember, they don't trust anyone! Right now, Saavik (sp?) is the only one that the Federation *knows* was on the warbird. Somewhere i seem to remember a reference that says or implies that the Enterprise automaticly jettisons its log buoy when the self-destruct sequence begins. maybe from the regular series? Even so, it might not say much about the battle as no one had time to make a formal entry in the log. Kirk has no bargaining power whatsoever, other than the fact that Spock is alive. All he can do is say: Told you so! So what if he stopped Kruge's plan (he just happenned to be in the right place)! Kirk & company STOLE a Constitution-class starship! And then they destroyed it!! Regardless of the circumstances, they are out of Starfleet, at least for ST IV. Oh yeah, almost forgot the Organians. They are not omnipotent. If they could enforce total peace, they probably would, and there would be no basis for more movies (where were they in ST I :-). Maybe the Klingon's (lovers of war that they are) have found a way to block the Organian's powers, or maybe we will find a limit to their powers after all. then again, maybe not. have fun all... dave hesselberth the Druid of NC decvax!mcnc!ncsu!rdr (put my name in Subject line if you mail; not my account)
