[net.startrek] Genesis Experiment Question

mnw@trwrba.UUCP (Michael N. Washington) (09/27/84)

One thing I thought of in regard to the Genesis experiment is
(and I do not remember any mention of this in the book or the
movie) the planet or moon chosen to test Genesis on would have
to have a suitable gravity or everything created would have a
problem staying on the planet or moon, not to mention being
shielded from the Sun, cosmic rays, meteors and other space hazards.
You would also need the gravity to keep an atmosphere, keep
water from floating into space etc. I do not know if the
Genesis wave was suppose to take care of this problem, but
I assume that it would have to, which to me means that the moon or
planet would have to be completely reconstructed by the Genesis wave.

Any thoughts out there on this subject?
