We had some trouble a while back, so I don't know if my previous posting made it or if it was contemptibly ignored! So here goes round two with an addition. > I just finished reading the DC comic rendition of events following >STIII. I know this is not sanctioned by the powers-that-be regarding >Star Trek but a good point was made in that comic book. I don't know >if it has been put forward on the net but the Enterprise could still >exist in the alternate reality that was depicted in 'Mirror, Mirror'. > > If this alternate Enterprise were snatched, Kirk and Company >would have their 'original' ship. (Of course, they would have to paint >all the doors with the Earth and sword emblems on them, but that's a >small price for a big ship! :-) ) > Now, on to the Kristie Allen - Robin Curtis debate: >> Kirstie [Alley] was SO much better [as Saavik]. >> And is prettier than Robin Curtis, to boot! >> Stewart Wiener / St. Joseph's University / allegra!sjuvax!smw >These two statements are at odds. Why do people want a pretty Saavik? >The very idea seems contradictory to me. She's a half-Romulan, half-Vulcan >who spent her childhood as something of an animal. WHY would she be pretty? >HOW could she? Curtis looks much more Vulcan/Romulan to me than Alley, who >refused to have half of her eyebrows shaved to appear less human. (Nimoy >has his entire brows shaved off and then has new ones applied by makeup, one >hair at a time.) Could it be Stewart has a crush on Saavik? Maybe the kind >of fantasies women supposedly had about Spock years back (and still, I guess)? >Naaaah! :-) >-- >Roger Noe ihnp4!ihlts!rjnoe First, since we are discussing someone who is half-Vulcan, we should endeavor to be logical. So along those lines, I say, "NUKE Curtis!" We must also take into account that Saavik is half-Romulan which is a rather passionate race. Who says that once ornery and grubby aliens cannot be attractive to humans? Look at the Deltan (her name escapes me - Ilia?) in STI-TMP. Granted she wasn't grubby... If one accepts the novelization of STIII, Saavik has a hard time controlling her emotions. I didn't get that impression from Curtis' acting. Her acting portrayed someone who was totally (:-]) Vulcan. Allen's performance in STII showed that inner turmoil, especially at Spock's funeral.
