First, I want to make a very little point. The Doctor's lock pick/sonic screwdriver (I think he calls it a wrench) looks very much like Gary Seven's multi-purpose pen, right? And now my conclusion (if you haven't figured it out already, flimsy as it is, but still). Could it be that the planet that Gary Seven was sent from is Gallifrey(sp?). After all, it was still hidden from the federation in the early 23rd Century! Now the plot: The Doctor is sent on a mission to find a long lost timelord child, whose parents, a timelord and a indigenous native girl, died in a ruthless Romulan raid. The Doctor is found on earth circa ~1970's, during one of his visits. By unusual circumstances he runs into Gary Seven and Reberta Lincoln (who become his new temporary companions for this mission) and they all leave earth for the planet Hellguard, thier new destination 200 years into the future.... They arrive with no luck in finding the child, but they discover that a Vulcan expidition left hellguard, many years ago with several of the halfbreed children left behind to die when their romulan parents/guardians went back home. With this new information the Doctor determines it better to follow in this time and dimension rather than trying to rematerialize at another place and time, so off they go in search of the lost child. (where have I heard that before?) The plot, of course, splits up with part of it with kirk and crew and the other half with the Doctor and company. A lot of stuff happens (what should logically happen to make the story interesting). I.e., the Doctor is captured by Romulans, Klingons, who ever etc. He out witts them and escapes, of course. Making his captors mad enough to give chase. In fact, he makes them so mad that most of the fleet chases after him. Mean while Kirk is trying to get out of a court-martial and at the same time tries to gain control of a new ship (whichever one that will be?) and gets away not totaly exonerated of everything. Everything that the Federation can muster goes after Kirk and the climax to this subplot ends with Kirk and crew being chased in one direction and the Doctor being chased in the other direction and both trajectories are on an intecept course! Mean while another subplot is taking shape. Mudd and Jones are being chased by the Orions, Gorns, Thoilians, Kzintis, Hydrans or what ever and they see the comotion going on with Kirk and The Doctor (althougth they don't know that it is Kirk and the Doctor) and decide to evade their pursuers by running into the middle of it. Also, by coincidence all the other major fleets that where not chasing anybody are on patrol in the same sector as everybody else is. It seems that Major Trouble is brewing again (what he is brewing I don't know?). Some how Mudd, Jones, the Doctor, Gary and Reberta end up on Kirks ship. Gary and Reberta look at Kirk and Spock then clance at each other and say "Oh NO!?". The Doctor looks at Gary and Reberta and says "uh???". Kirk Looks at Spock, Mudd, Jones, Gary and Reberta and says with that certain look "I should have stayed back at that starbase and been court-martialed!?" While everybody is looking at each other the action shifts to the near-galactic war breaking out (This may be more than the Organians can handle since every ship that each fleet can muster is here!) In fact, the Orgainians are almost helpless, they had only expected a major war between two or three galactic nations, not all or at lest nearly all!! News of this rages throughout the galaxy and tensions increase on every border. Mobolization begins! When we cut back to Kirk, we find that somehow Kang, Deth O'kay, the female Romulan Commander and anybody else are in a briefing room trying to figure a way to save everything! In the mean time, it is discovered that Saavik is the missing timelord child and she is about to undergo her first regeneration! Somehow she stops all hostilities and saves the galaxy. Everybody learns a lesson, even the Orgainians! They find out that they can't stop everything the way they believed they could and the other galactic nations learn that even in peacetime and between allies, disputes can and will break out and the only way to solve it is to fight it out! When everything has calmed down the Doctor asks Saavik that she needs to come along with him back to Gallifrey, but she looks at spock and says "No, I can't. This is where I belong now." (throughout the story the friction between spock and the Doctor needs to be brought out as well as their eventual respect and admiration for each other). Now this is a wild and skimppy outline of a story, but if you caught all of the plots and meanings I tried to establish, great, but if not I'll list them here for you Plus some others. 1) Kirsty Alley can now come back or anyone else for that matter by regeneration. Robin Curtis would be in it for part of the movie. This should satisfy both Alley and Curtis fans! 2) The friction between Spock and the Doctor needs to be brought out as well as their eventual respect and admiration for each other. 3) Bring back some of the other stars that have become popular i.e. Harcourt Fenton Mudd, Reberta Lincoln, Cyrano Jones, Tribbles, Kang, Gary Seven, Tal, the female Romulan Commander, Lazarus, etc. (and not just background people, but as active parts of the story.) 4) Use refrences made in the other ST novels and the like. 5) show the bloody out break of the "ultimate" galactic war that everybody wants. 6) Prove that Kirk isn't responsible for every little thing that happens. 7) Show that the Organians are not all powerful. 8) A chance to introduce all of the other races and their cultures that make up our part of the galaxy. 9) Even though Kirk did not stop the war, it will show the leadership, charisma, and responsiblity he has to set up a lasting detente between all concerned. 10) It will also clear Kirk Totally of all charges. 11) Introduction of new characters to continue on the ST universe. 12) All sorts of new adventures for the Doctor can be shown. 13) All sorts of new adventures for Kirk and crew can be shown. 14) Show more interaction between the old regulars, the new regulars, the old guest star and the new guest stars. 15) Maybe once or twice have the flow of the movie completely stop so that some piece of equipment can be thoroughly explained (ha, ha!) 16) McCoy and the Doctor can argue what they aren't and what they are. 17) The Doctor can give the Klingons a lesson in how to dress properly. 18) K-9 can play with the Tribbles or Ceti Eels can go crazy trying to find a Tribble ear. 19) Showning Saavik growing and increasing her new found powers with Spock's tutelage. (timelord Vulcan Style, just as her father was, but he was a gallifreyian, but liked to visit Vulcan and therefore appeared as a Vulcan!) 20) etc., etc.!!
