I don't believe anyone has mentioned it yet, but 12 epesodes of ST are already available on RCA videodisk. I have Trouble with Tribbles and Tholian Web on disk right in front of me. I don't know if Paramount is planning to release any others. -- Ron Christian (Watkins-Johnson Co. San Jose, Calif.) {pesnta, twg, ios, qubix, turtlevax, tymix}!wjvax!ron

REFERENCES: <100@decwrl.UUCP> I just read in VARIETY that Paramount is going to release STAR TREK III in February for a suggested retail price of (get this!) $29.95. In addition, they will be releasing the episodes, in order, for a suggested retail price of $14.95 each! (One to a T-60 VHS tape, I presume, as opposed to the two-per-tape previous method.) Evelyn C. I sent a letter to Paramount Home Video inquiring if they plan to sponsor Star Trek episode subscription offers. They nicely replied that they do not have any plans to do that at this time. It's probably easier just to sell them through video tape dealers. Josie AT&T Bell Labs Windy City, IL -- Josie Clementz AT&T Bell Laboraties Naperville, IL (...ihuxw!josie ix1b469 x0762)

The number was in a few of the Video mags several months ago. I called it, and was told that the place "wasn't sure" if they were going to do it or not, but if I'd leave my name and address they'd contact me. hmmm, good way to sneak me on yet another mailing list I think to my self -- but I give it to her anyway. So far no word from them. *IF* I ever do here from them, I'll post something here. However! I just picked up a Laserdisk copy of "StarTrek Television" Volume 1 - the 2 part Menegier (sp?) episode. The Laserdisk is *BEAUTIFUL* and is easily one of the best pressing I own. Larry Marek ihnp4!invest!larry

And what is to happen to us poor suckers who have Beta rather than VHS? Organization: Univ. of KY Mathematical Sciences Lines: 11 One solution (snicker, snicker) is to go with the old standby of "tape-'em yerself" Unfortunately, this doesn't give very good quality - - too many commercials, et al. (My Beta doesn't edit-out commercials very well.) Of course, this is assuming that the VHS tapes have the commercials edited out. . . any comments? Red

Simple sollution: Buy 1 VHS format machine and 1 BETA format machine. Then when you tape it yourself you can playback and cut commercials must better. I do it and the finished product,(prodvided final tape is recoded on beta) hardly shows anytrace of the editing unless you really sit there and lok for it, me i'd rather watch the show. jeanette Zobjeck ps old/used/last years models/ can be picked up very cheap.
