I was watching "The Last Starfighter" on video for the first time recently and there, to my delight, was Meg Wylie as Granny. She looks pretty good considering the years that have passed since her appearance in "The Cage" (or Menagerie, whichever you prefer). I am not sure why I was so happy to see her, but she touched a cord of sentiment that must be part of the force behind Star Trek's ability to survive for all these years. And now my choice for Saavik? Meg Wylie! -- ooops, that was the one in the last paragraph -- It has to be Kirstie Alley. After all, she IS Saavik and Robin Curtis only tried (unsuccessfully in my opinion) to fill her shoes. The producers blundered horribly in not assuring Kirstie's commitment to the third Star Trek movie when signing her for the second. Had they no faith in their casting selection for TWOK?
