This is being forwarded through me to NET.STARTREK. I only do some basic formatting and I am not responsible for its listing 'Spocks Brain' as only the fifth worst episode. All responses sent to me will be forwarded to the author. Vital Statistics How peculiar. What a wide range of fanaticism there must be among watchers of "Star Trek". I thought *everybody* knew that it was on for three seasons containing, altogether, seventy-nine episodes. There's a wide range of tastes, too. Strictly speaking, it's not wrong to say that "Requiem for Methuselah" is one of the worst episodes. Sure, it's one of the worst thirty-five or so. But if you want, say, the worst five -- The Alternative Factor The Omega Glory Let That Be Your Last Battlefield The Mark of Gideon Spock's Brain Or, to make that the worst ten, add -- The Way to Eden Wink of an Eye Operation: Annihilate! The Savage Curtain The Lights of Zetar They did far, far worse than "Requiem for Methuselah", the only real crimes of which were the absence of a sufficient explanation for Kirk's idiotic and unpro- fessional behaviour with regard to Rayna, and the presence of the supremely stupid scene wherein Flint reduced the *Enterprise* to the size of a model and "suspended" everybody aboard. But if one lists the crimes of "The Alternative Factor" or "Spock's Brain", one has to recite the entire plot and then get to the details; and something like "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" has far more sillinesses and embarrassing moments than "Requiem". ------- PDDB
