[net.startrek] Fascinating Planet

<<< Who are those guys anyway?

I was watching a show that contained some clips from the Movie "Forbidden
Planet" and they mentioned that the Planets Real Name was Altair IV. Now
Altair was used as a planets name in some Star Trek episode of which I cannot
remember the plot. But there were several episodes that found planets similar
to the forbidden one (ie. Ancient civilization destroyed and only their
machines remaining). Is it possible that the Altair in Star Trek was supposed
to be the Forbidden Planet?

*** REPLACE THIS MESS WITH YOUR LINEAGE ***
Altair is a first magnitude star comparatively close to Earth. Coincidence
is probably the answer; how many SF stories have been set around Alpha
Centauri?

Question for devotees: "Forbidden Planet" deals with a technology that
creates solid objects out of thoughts. At least one Star Trek episode
deals with the same thing. Name it and others you can think of.
