Actually, come to think of it, that plot device was already 
used in one episode...the "Doomsday Machine" is, after all,
little more than a raging space cul-de-sac...

			"No, no, Penfold; this machine travels
			   THROUGH time."
			"Ooh, like that Doctor fellow."
			"Who?"
			"I don't quite recall..."

No, no, this is the one where Kirk decides that his old salary from Starfleet
isn't enough, goes out in search of over two million credits, and meets a
beautiful young woman who tried the same thing, failed, and was doomed to appear
on a network series that was cancelled after only two solar months...
