[net.startrek] The Doctor and the Enterprise.

In fact, unfortunately in my opinion, Star Trek was Doctored once. In 1983,
I believe, the short story "The Doctor and the Enterprise," by Jean Airey,
the convention organiser and ex-editor of Fantasy Empire, first appeared.
I am opposed to the idea of combining the basically incompatible shows,
despite what Time may have said as to their similarity. This particular
short story, widely circulated and printed, featured Daleks inexplicably
attacking the Enterprise. Needless to say, the Doctor comes to the aid
of the ship and fights the Daleks successfully. However, the suspicious
crew sic Mr. Spock on him, who performs a mind meld and then becomes
irrational, even whimsical, just as Jano does in the Savages, to Kirk's
amusement.

"I cross the void beyond the mind,
The empty space that circles time,
I see where others stumble blind,
To seek a truth they'll never find.
 Eternal wisdom is my guide.
 I am - The Doctor! "
