I don't know if this has been done before but I'd like to poll this
newsgroup for the worst 3 episodes.
27 The Alternative Factor The Enterprise is caught in a space blink, and
SD:3087.6 has to contend with Lazarus, who is fighting
with an Anti-Lazarus in an Anti-Universe.
Absolutely, positively the worst episode I've ever seen.
70 Let That Be Your Last The Enterprise picks up two people, one black
Battlefield on the left side of his body, the other on
SD:5730.2 the right. They are both fighting to see
which race is the dominant race.
This is actually somewhat similar to "The Alternative Factor".
75 The Way to Eden The Enterprise takes on some space hippies who
SD:5832.3 take over ther Enterprise in a quest for the
planet Eden. When they arrive at Eden they
find a poisonous planet.
I did not worry about missing some of it when I was changing channels
during commercials.

Omega Glory was just too damn pretentious. I have two nominations for the worst episode. (In fact, there are only two episodes that I refuse to watch). "The Apple", with all the natives prancing around like they're part of some big toga party makes me sick, and of course, "Metamorphosis", with darling little Eleanor Donahue as the huffy bitch who becomes pos- sessed by a dustball is a gigantic bore. I am surprized that no one has yet mentioned the episode both me and my sister (a real trekkie, she has all the books and goes to cons) consider to be global minima (oops my research creeps in at the oddest moments). Anyway the answer is "Spock's Ears". Where a beautiful woman appear without warning (or possibly with warning) on the enterprise and steal spock's ears without which he can not think to use for the air conditioning system. Oops I have been thinking of this episode as spock's ears for so long it leaked into this article please substitute brain for ear in all previous sentences (but not this one or it won't make sense). I can recite a synopsis of the rest of the plot but it gets much worse and less sensible after this. -David Sher

People,
Instead of just stating what your choice for worst episode is, why
not SUPPORT your conclusion? That makes for far more interesting
reading that simply saying "Without a doubt, <X> is the worst episode.
So there."
Personally, I can't decide which episode is worst. This isn't because
I have a long list of bad ST episodes, but because almost all of them
have at least ten or twenty good minutes of story.
However, the costumes in "Gamesters of Triskelion" make me laugh,
so I've never noticed the plot of that episode.

I can't take it any more! I personally now upwards of three people who know the music and lyrics for ALL of the great "Way to Eden" songs. The space hippies made a warm, lasting impression on me and my family, and I resent it being tagged as a bad episode. We need more examples of Spock playing the lyrette: "That's now! I don't remember the name, but one of my least favorite episodes was that which
had Kirk, Uhura and Chekhov being used as gladiators in a triangular arena
for the betting pleasures of a few lumps of brain on tin cans. The main
reason was probably that it was shown about 9 times in the same week during my
peak trek-watching year.

I don't know about all of you, but I think "Turnabout Intruder" was
*really* bad. I guess I have to agree that "And the Children Shall Lead"
is also one of the worst.
For the best, I'd have to name a few: "The City on the Edge of Forever",
"A Piece of the Action", "Assignment: Earth", and the "Doomsday Machine".

My three worst episodes have to be:
1. This Way to Eden - Dumb plot, dumb singing (ever notice that one
of the hippies has ears that look like
cauliflower.)
2. I, Mudd - How did the android get on the Enterprise in the first
place?
3. Mantrap - Why didn't the creature waste Bones when she had the
chance?

Here are my three least-favorites, in no particular order.
1. Spock's Brain. Space-girl rips out Spock's brain without stitches.
He blinks, he walks, he even arm wrestles, and his hair is in place!
AAARRGGGHH!
2. And the Children Shall Lead. Melvin Belli embellishes a bunch of
dippy kids with hallucinogenic powers...
3. Spectre of the Gun....as David Gerrold said in "The World of Star
Trek.." , this one was done because they "didn't have a science-fiction
script, so they did a western" (words to that effect..)
