[net.startrek] Khan's chest

schneider@vlnvax.DEC (03/07/85)

1. There is no way that that chest is real - maybe for a 25 year old
weightlifter, but not for a ~60 year old actor. And if anyone noticed,
there was always the convenient "breaks" in his skin so a chest could
be attached as unobtrusively as possible - like a heavy, thick necklace,
and those things he wore on his upper arms. We discussed this while watching
TWOK on the VCR and rewinding - NO WAY. His chest wasn't even close to
that developed on Space Seed.

2. There was discussion a few months ago about Star Trek episodes on VHS
tapes. Last night on Channel 38 in Boston, there was a commercial offering
STIII:TSFS and the first 10 episodes of the series, complete and uneditted.
The movie was $29.95 and the shows were a rip-off - $14.95 each! I know
that I'll start taping my favorites for myself at approximately $1 per
episode (1 tape for 6 episodes approx. Oddly enough said commercial was not
shown during Star Trek, when you'd think interest would be at its peak.
What's more, Channel 38 doesn't even carry Star Trek. By the way the store
that I rent tapes from has a limited selection of episodes to rent, all
commercially produced, and they've had them for at least a few months.

Well, not too long after TWOK came out, I saw an interview with Ricardo
on the Tonight Show, and Johnny asked him that very same question.
Ricardo indicated that he had been in intensive training for the
role, and, yes, it *was* his chest. Who knows? Maybe he used
steroids :-)

I guess since you DON'T KNOW FOR SURE we could consider
this an opinion, right? As someone stated before that is his
chest. How long has it been since you saw "Fantasy Island"
or a Chrysler commercial. I really doubt they would stuff his chest
for a car commercial or Fantasy Island and he has a massive chest.
Watch, Pay attention; THEN TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!!!
