Just saw the TV version last week, and saw one "kind of" deletion from the movie version. When Saavik orders "Abandon Ship" as the bridge simulator is falling to pieces around her, youu can hear Kirk's voice calling, "OK, open 'er up" in the background. In the movie version, this is quite obvious, but on the TV version, there is a siren sounding that makes the line nearly undiscernable. As a matter of fact, last weekend I saw the TV versions of ST I and II, and bought a copy of STIII ($29.95? Keep it up, Paramount!). I must say that I enjoyed STI much more than I thought I would. Part of it was the added footage, of course, but, in retrospect, STI had some good special effects that some of us may have forgotten. But I do admit, I "Zapped" the long, boring, entry to V'Ger part... And now to another interesting part... When Saavik and David open up Spock's tube on the Genesis planet, they find "...Spock's burial robe." Hummmpf. That's the same robe Spock was wearing during the sequence in STII where Kirk is in Spock's quarters, telling him of the new mission. And, in fact, it's the same robe Spock was wearing when he reported onto the Enterprise in ST-TMP. This leads us to several options: 1. Spock had no illusions about the food on Enterprise; 2. Military pay scales haven't changed much in 300 years; or 3. Spock's only other civilian clothing, a lime-green sport coat with red-plaid pants (bought from 'Herb Tarleck's Fashion World' on Venus) were banned from use as burial clothing as a menace to navigation...
