My last posting contained my negative comments about the TV version of STII - The Wrath of Kahn (TWOK). I felt that most of the additions would have been better off if they were left on the cutting room floor. Well, now its time to show my true wishy washy colors by complaining about the one additional scene which I hoped to see but did not. I don't think that this one scene was ever filmed, but I wish that it had been. What I hoped would be added, is a scene which shows Kahn watching the Enterprise warp away just before the Genesis explosion. In both the TV and original version, Kahn dies before the Enterprise warps away. So Kahn dies thinking that he has won, he has killed Kirk. I realize, that since the Enterprise was leaving at maximum impulse power, she would have been too far away for Kahn to see due to the Nebula distorting the view screen. But I'd be willing to overlook this inconsistency to see Kahn's expression as Kirk escapes him yet again. The irony of this scene is that Kahn would die thinking that Kirk had beaten him completely, when in reality, Kahn did "win" because as he said earlier in the film, "I've done worse than kill you, I've hurt you." And certainly Spock's death was the only thing that could hurt Kirk worse than his own death. Oh well. I guess the only way for anyone to see a movie which they agree with every detail filmed is to be rich enough to have complete control over its production. (Anybody got $100 mil?) But then, I enjoy movies the most when I have no knowledge of the plot before hand. That way everything is a surprise. I guess I just can't win. If you remember the Nebula would distort the view screen, and it was distorting it somewhat. You also have to remember that Kahn might have had a greater magnification set than just normal magnification. | Mr. Sulu, Indulge Yourself. * (|) |\ . * \lT? || !li |I==ll' * * || l' l| |' * - linwood
