I had forgotten this, but now that I do remember it, I thought I would share it. In an episode of "Give Me A Break", the older (dumb) daughter was doing a crossword puzzle, when she became stuck on one of the questions. Her grandfather was in the room at the time. Her grandfather is played by John Hoyt, Dr. Phillip Boyce from the first pilot episode "The Cage". The daughter asks him the question which goes as follows, "The five letter name of a character, with long pointed ears, in a long running SI-FI TV show?" Before grandpa can open his mouth, she says "Lasie". The camera pans the disbelief on his face. In an episode of "Benson", Gretchin and Benson are haveing their usual round of insults, when Gretchin says something like "they'll be In Search of Benson" and that seemed to have shut him up. Star Trek can slip into almost anything, anywhere at anytime! Chris Wayne @ UNM

I thought the doctor for both the "The Cage" and the pilot episode was Paul Fix.
