The incident was WIDELY PUBLICIZED and the public was clamoring "KIRK!, KIRK!, etc. etc. With all that public opinion in Kirk's favor, anybody short of the Commander-in-Chief would probably get canned for even SUGGESTING Kirk be court-martialed. I suspect even the Commander-in-Chief him/herself would be committing political suicide by such an act. It's a wonder they weren't forced to PROMOTE him!! SJBerry
