[net.startrek] Is Jimmy a Bad Boy or Not

Okay, I did not want to edit an already give message. I'm lazy.

I'm not sure if it was "As Spock Goes, So Goes Vulcan."

He is an ambassadour's son, yes. And he did save his life, agreed.
My only question is: Is this SOP, whenever some random ambassadour's
kid gets into a bind, they throw the rule book to the wind.

I now that happened in "The Apple" and I think in another one. Does the
Federation forgive Jimmy because he saved he saved Spock?

My intuition says no. I don't think Spock is as vital as everyone seems
to believe. Otherwise, why didn't they let Jim go back in the first
place?

Yeah, yeah, Jim is one important guy. He heads a bunch of councils,
makes alot of money, and is one cool dude. But as of late, he is
becoming disgruntled with his life as a Federation Admiral. Bones can
testify to that. But the Federation won't let him fly around the
universe. Jim is disgruntled.

So Jim steals a starship chock full of Genesis information. No one
steals a starship from a closed docking bay. Why purge the information?
Why not purge all the information? It wasn't Jim's ship, so why did
it still have the destruct sequence (Hey! That just came to me!)
Why did it still have all the navigation info? Why does he do that?
Because Jim has made a deal with the Klingons. If he gives them Genesis
information, they will give him a ship with a cloaking device so he
can go save his friend Spock. To save time, they meet at the Genesis
planet. They swap information and the Enterprise is taken away in tow.
Jimmy gets his ship, goes down to the planet, finds Spock, and goes to
Vulcan.

Appropriate stories can be made about the existence of Saavik on the
Klingon ship. Either that, or she becomes the star witness that saves
Jim's fanny. I like that! She stays with Spock (something to do with
this Pon Farr bit) and Jimmy goes to trial. The look is bad. The Klingons
doctored some evidence. They figure it would be fun to watch our
friend Jimmy squirm. Jim has no one to prove him innocent who has not
been indicted in the conspiracy somehow. All Jim has is his character.
Finally, at the last minute, Spocky and Saavik walk through the door,
save his ass, and they give him a starship! The bugles play!
