*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE *** In regards as to whether Kirk and the gang can be bailed out by the influence of the Vulcan government, note that T'Pau, the Vulcan matriarch who bailed Kirk out in "Amok Time" was played by Dame Judith Anderson, who also played the matriarch who melded Spock back into his body in STIII. I'm not sure what the credits said, but I suppose we are to assume that she is T'Pau ("The only person ever to turn down a seat on the Federation Council"). If so, maybe she will pull off something. Actually, I wish she would and also get Kirk the Excelsior and another 5-year mission; I have yet to see a Star Trek movie where Kirk: a) makes a speech about humanity striving for the stars ("Let me help") b) Has to make an actual choice (come on, the Enterprise was doomed as soon as the Klingon hit it. How about a REAL command decsion, like choosing between Edith Keeler and the Universe?) c) Doesn't have an incredible space battle. Come on, how often did the big E go into battle in the series? Not too often. So far, the only ST movie that comes close to this is ST-T ST-TMP, which was admittedly boring. But there's gotta be something besides cloaking devices, self-destruct orders, and aft torpedoes firing. I seem to have strayed a bit from my original topic. Thank you for bearing with me. -Ted Ives (astrovax, philabs)|dartvax|tedi or tedi@dartvax "Dammit Spock, what the hell's the matter with you? Other people have funerals; why are we treating yours like a birthday?"
