[net.music] Neville Brothers

For those who are R&B fans, especially the New Orleans sound of
Allen Toussaint, the Meters, etc, check out the Neville brothers new
album, "Neville-ization". I bought it after reading an article about them
in Downbeat. The album is really hot!! The bros are all in their late
thirties or early 40's and have been playing professionally for about
30 years, you may remember Aaron with a hit in '66, "Tell It Like It
Is".

If you ever get the chance to see them LIVE, go for it ! The
album is hot, but on stage they are scorching. They have appeared in
the DC area before, and with luck they'll come back.

 YES INDEEDIE,

I was down at the Mardi-Gras in February and had the pleasure of

 seeing the Nevielle Brothers twice...

Two shows I won't soon forget.

I think I just might have to find/purchase that little gem!

		    Thanks for the tip,

I've seen the Neville Brotherds many times, the most recent being
several times at the New Orleans Jazz and Hertiage Festival last week.
They are even better in concert than on vinyl. Lately their closing
number has been Aaron singing "Amazing Grace" upon which everyone comes in
for a chorus of "Amen" ending with "Down by the Riverside". In addition
to the Neville-lization LP, check out their first LP "Fiyo on the Bayou" (on
Warner Brothers i think). I was told they have a new LP in the works, no
label yet.

Also, if u like this kind of music, check the LP by
The Wild Thocpalolias (sp). They only have one LP. They were a Madri Gras
Indian tribe led by Chief Bo Dillis, the Neville Bros. uncle. The
Neville Bros. all play and sing on this LP too.

BTW I saw Allan Toussaint perform several times at the festival. If you
get a chance see him in concert, do so. He puts on a great show too,
with full horn section and backup singers.
