> Question is: why didn't Kirk put goggles on, too? > The assumption is that the Medusan's "ugliness" > is exposed during transport. > This scene looked alittle strange to me too, but you remember Kirk was standing right in front of the door of the transporter room; I assumed he walked out right before the transporter process started. In the beginning of the episode, no humans were allowed in the transporter room when Kollos was brought aboard; and those goggles don't work on humans. Was that the Vulcan IDIC Spock was wearing around his neck? I would think there would be regulations against his wearing jewelry of that kind while in uniform. -- Peace and Long Life, -Josie (...!ihnp4!ihuxw!josie)

No. There is no good explanation for 1) Spock putting on the goggles, 2) Kirk watching, and 3) the transporter "disappearing" them. What we see in that episode is an example of dumb editing. We see 1) Kirk say bye-bye, 2) Spock beam them down, and then 3) a shot of Kirk walking out the door. And that is the extent of the scene in the transporter room. The editing mistake? 3 should have come right before clip 2 instead of after. Keep that inmind the next time you see the episode -- it works. -- Fred Avolio {decvax, seismo}!decuac!avolio 301/731-4100 x4227
