[net.startrek] Non-trek transporter inconsistancy

john@moncol.UUCP (John Ruschmeyer) (05/30/85)

I was watching Doctor Who last evening and caught an inconsistant use of a
matter transport device which I thought might amuse everyone:

In this episode (sorry don't remember the name), an alien creature has
attacked one of the Doctor's comapnions, placing a fast-acting poison into
her blood stream. The Doctor gets rid of the poison by placing her in a
"transmat" (transporter equivalent) and beaming her to a nearby asteroid.
Apparently, in the beaming process, the poison is somehow seperated from
her body.

Huh??? Could you see McCoy using the transporter as a medical instrument?
