[net.startrek] Spelling characters' names!

evan@petfe.UUCP (Evan Marcus) (06/12/85)

Boy, for a bunch of people who claim to know so much about Star Trek, I
am really amazed/appalled at how often simple things like major characters'
names are misspelled. Let's try a spelling lesson:

DeForest Kelly played Dr. Leonard McCoy (not Kelley, and not Deforrest)
Ricardo Montalban played Khan (like in Genghis, not Kahn like in a delicatessen)
Nichelle Nichols played Lt. Uhura (not Ahura)...did she have a first name?
Walter Koenig played Chekov (Anton Chekhov was an author)
Kirstie Alley played the first Saavik. (Christie married Billy Joel)

OK, that concludes lesson 1. Next week, we'll try Spock's first name.

Oh, send all flames to /dev/null.

P.S.  The sentiment is sincere, the sarcasm is not.   :-}

"So, if she weighs the same as a duck, she is made of wood..."
"And therefore..."
"A witch!"

Nope, it is Kelley. This is a good reason not to ever make spelling
flames, id est, you might be wrong. Note that this missive is not a
spelling flame, but a flame against spelling flames, which is
probably not a good idea either. Alles klar? Gut.
