This is being forwarded through me to NET.STARTREK. I only do some basic formatting and I am not responsible for its theories of comparative physiology. All responses sent to me will be forwarded to the author. SHORT PEOPLE Net.startrek never fails to amaze me. Half the time the population is acutely, astonishingly observant, and the other half it can't tell a shuffling pizza from a flying fried egg. Anybody who has watched more than six shows with any sort of attention can see that BOTH Nimoy and Kelley are taller than Shatner. I've got a battered, no-longer-dated article from TV Guide that says Kelley is 6'2". I think Nimoy is the same height, but he tends to slouch. I always thought it was kind of neat that the captain was the short one. I'm short myself. As for what the various creatures look like, I think Diane Duane has provided the definitive description of the Horta. In *My Enemy, My Ally*, she says that a horta crewmember (yes, she clearly and satisfactorily explains how there can be horta crewmembers) always makes Kirk grin because he can't get used to being earnestly "Yes, Captain"'d by somebody who "looked like a giant pan pizza (sausage, extra cheese)." I saw "Devil in the Dark" a few days after I read the book, and spent most of it laughing hysterically. (It didn't help that Jayembee, who was also present, took a judicious look at the red-shirted *Enterprise* men lined up for their briefing, and remarked, "I club baby Hortas". -------- PDDB
