I attended Shore Leave VII over the weekend and have some news on the Star Trek novels to report. Ann Crispin and Howard Wienstien were both there. Ann is working on a sequel to Yesterday's Son, called Time for Yesterday. She read the prolog and first chapter, and it sounds good. It should be out in early '86. Howie's long discussed novel involving Harry Mudd has finally been officially rejected, which is a pity, since his readings from it over the past few years have been quite funny. If you haven't already gotten a copy of the newst ST novel, Killing Time by Della Van Hise, you may have missed it. It is being recalled by the publisher, at Paramount's insistance, to be destroyed. It seems that Paramount officials read the book and demanded in no uncertain terms that certain explicit scenes be removed. The publisher duly removed them. Then some gremlins got into the works and the WRONG VERSION was published. An expurgated version may be released later. They were selling fast in the dealer's room (I got MY copy)! I am most behind at getting these books, mainly because the first ones I read were terrible. So I would like to poll net.startrek - mail me your top 5 choices, in order, for the best original (leaving out the movie novelizations) ST novels. I'll post the favorites back to the net (and go out and get the ones I don't have). Mary Anne Espenshade ...!{allegra, seismo}!umcp-cs!aplvax!mae
