**THIS PAGE LEFT INTENTIONALLY BLANK** Went out of town for July 4 weekend, and stumbled over "Amok Time" on Baltimore (or was is Salisbury) Maryland TV. I counted at least 4 scenes that I'd never seen before on WPIX, plus one that I had seen before but has since been cut from the PIX videotape. Down here in Maryland they love to chop up Star Trek. In the last five years I have yet to see "Court Martial" show the complete speech by Samuel T. Cogley about the rights of humans vs. machines. Half the time they cut out the part where Kirk tells us with voice over that Sam left the ship to have Jamie beamed up. And some times they even cut out the meeting between Kirk and Arleen Shaw (?) and later McCoy in the bar on Star Base whatever. Another nice one they pick on is Tribbles. They seem to like to cut out fifteen seconds here, fifteen seconds there, but it all adds up. Shows in syndication are always cut to get in more commercials. WLVI, TV 56 says that their episodes are "complete and un-cut", but I know that this is only 85% true. Some of their episodes are pretty complete, but others are corrupted and they don't know it, or can't do anything about it. I think our only refuge is to buy tapes or laser disks. Which prompts a question. Is it true that the laser disk market is going down the tubes, and the people like RCA have sold out and discontinued there Laser Disk line?
