[net.startrek] What ever became of the original Enterprise?

john@moncol.UUCP (John Ruschmeyer) (07/21/85)

Quite a few years back, the original model of the Enterprise was donated to
the Smithsonian. When I was last there (in 1978), it was not there. I was
told it was being used for the filming of ST:TMP.

As is fairly obvious, this model was eventually not used for the movie. My
question, then, is what has become of the original model?

Thanks in advance.

The original Enterprise is certainly still at the Smithsonian,
at the Air and Space Museum. It's not in a grand place, stuck
up in a corner over the top floor level, but it is there.
