Here are my answers: 1) How many episodes can you name in which Spock cries? (CRIES, not just feels sad.) [There's more than one.] 1. "The Naked Time" when Nurse Chapel tells Spock she is in love with him (passing the disease to him). 2. "Plato's Stepchildren" when he is 'entertaining' Parmen. 2) How many episodes can you name in which a phaser is on overload? [There are more than two.] 1. "The Menagerie/Cage" when they threaten to kill themselves rather than live on Talos IV. 2. "The Conscience of the King" when Kirk finds a phaser on overload inside the red alert signal. 3. "That Which Survives" when someone puts a phaser on overload. (Actually, I believe the computer protecting the planet caused Kirk's phaser to overload.) The phaser in "The City On The Edge Of Forever" was NOT on overload because there was no explosion. Also, the sound effect was wrong. 3) How many episodes can you name in which an alien experiences 'new sensations'? (I can think of five episodes in which the alien makes a statement to the effect that he/she/it is experiencing a 'new sensation'.) Here are five episodes in which an alien so states that he/she/it is experiencing a 'new sensation': 1. "Catspaw" when Sylvia says that she, and I quote, is experiencing a 'New Sensation'. 2. "Is There In Truth No Beauty" when the Medusan Kolos mind melds with Spock. 3. "By Any Other Name" when the Kelvans take human forms. 4. "Return To Tomorrow" when Henoch possesses Spock's body. 5. "The Squire Of Gothos" when Trelane is experiencing human emotion (anger at Kirk). Scott Berry also submitted the episodes, "Devil in the Dark", and "All Our Yesterdays" because he says that Spock is an alien. (Blasphemy! Of all the people on the Enterprise, Spock is "...the most human." [Just kidding; this is not a flame. Actually, I consider Kirk to be insulting Spock somewhat when he says this. Any comments?]) Now I agree that there are other episodes such as "Metamorphesis" in which the alien in question is 'obviously' experiencing a new sensation. However, I was looking for episodes in which the alien made a statement to that effect. Otherwise you could argue that in nearly every episode, some alien 'obviously' experienced a new sensation. BONUS QUESTION: When Sulu and others are trapped on the cold planet in "The Enemy Within" due to a transporter malfunction, why don't they (Kirk or Spock) send down a shuttle craft to rescue them? Because the shuttle craft, as everyone guessed correctly, didn't exist yet. WINNER: You say you want me to declare a 'winner'? O.K. I would have to say that two people tied as the 'winner'. They are: Scott Berry and Parwez Wahid since they submitted the most number of 'correct' answers. Give yourselves a pat on the back! -------------------------------------------------------------------- And now for some more trivia (set 3) ... 1) How many episodes can you name in which Spock falls in love? 2) How many episodes can you name in which the Enterprise moves faster than its maximum safe speed (warp 6)? 3) How many episodes can you name in which the Enterprise is being run by only a skeletal crew (less than 20 people)? BONUS QUESTION: Name the episode in which a regular dies. [Definitions: Regular - Someone who makes an appearance on at least 50% of the episodes. Die - NOT alive.] I await your response. Enjoy! They are: "Day of the Dove" "By Any Other Name" "Ultimate Computer" (I think I miss spelled this) The last one is when everyone comes down with a sickness and Kirk, McCoy, Spock go down to a planet to "make" the cure. On the planet is an Earth man who has lived since early Earth's history (I don't remember the time period, nor the man's name). This man has built a woman and Kirk taught her to "feel" love. In this episode it only says that the enterprise is down to a skeletal crew, it doesn't show it. As for the Bonus question I have drawn a blank.....
