[net.startrek] The Comic Book

cc-30@cory.BERKELEY.EDU (Sean "Yoda" Rouse) (01/19/86)

For those of you who have ignored the comic book, you just might want to
take a look at what DC's been up to.
The scripter of issues #24 and #25 (as well asx the upcoming #28) is
Diane Duane, author of "Wounded Sky" and "My Enemy, My Ally". If you
liked her interpretation of Trek, you will definitely want to check these out.

samples: (approx. quotes, i.e. pulled off the top of my head)

"Uhura, do anything, but stall them."
     "Anything, Admiral?"
     "Anything."
     <pause.> Then,
"This is the Excelsior, we're sorry, but there's no one available to
take your call, just now. If you'll leave your name and frequency at the
sound of the tone, we'll get back to you as soon as possible."
(unintelligible alien gibberish from challenging ship)
"We're in for it now." says "friendly" alien.
     Kirk: "You understood that?"
"Language close enough to ours. They say our mothers wear--"

I think that's enough for you to get an idea of what it's like.
It reads sort of like "The Trouble with Tribbles" watches. Check it out.
