--------------------
A while ago I saw a passing mention of the new album in one of the audio
magizines, Digital Audio or Stereo Review, I'm not sure which one. The
author said it should be hot, but they would be very difficult to find.
Well, I wasn't looking for it while browsing through Leopold's CD shelf
in Berzerkely, but I came across this wonderful CD. I had purchased
STAR TRACKS a few months ago, and was VERY dissappointed with the STAR TREK
theme. It wasn't quite what I had expected. It was more of a hoaky ballad
than a theme song. ANYWAY, THIS ALBUM IS FANTASTIC! I feared that the music
might not reflect the episode's closely. But fear not. They seem to have
been taken from the same score and are breathtaking in full digital stereo!
I did have a few very minor qualms. They seemed to use a synthesizer in
some parts to mantain a constant high-pitched note, which sticks out like a
soar thumb when combined with the Royal Philharmonic. Also, having heard
the music sooo much, I became uneasy when a few of the themes were not
quite as fast or as slow in tempo as those in the episodes...But that's my
problem I guess. It's hot! It's a MUST. And they say there are more to come.
It's kind of funny, Gene Roddenberry gives a short introduction and says
he told the composer not to give him electronic beep-beep-beep music,
"give us Captain Blood!" Well, thank God for Gene's taste or we would
have ended up with some bimbo robotic garbage like Lost In Space...

END OF REVIEW!

I'm sure Spock would agree that buying this album is quite logical. ;-)
