I just attended a Star Trek convention here in LA. Some news did come out of the convention. If you do not want to know anything about ST IV, read no further. I don't think anything indicated would really spoil the movie for anyone. The movie is still planning a Christmas release date. I have renewed admiration for Robin Curtis. She is prettier in person than her photographs. She talked a little about herself. She was not a "trek" fan before doing ST III. She is from NY area. She studied all over, but mostly in New York. Robin decided not to watch ST II before doing her part in III. She did not want to be influenced by K. Alley's performance. Besides, she said that L. Nimoy said to trush him. Together they would do a good job. Robin didn't feel comfortable with her statement that David was dead. She hoped that her eyes conveyed how Saavik really felt. Next up, a big 20 year convention in LA at the Disneyland Hotel in June. Most of the original cast will visit the convention one or both of the days. Creations (of course) suggests that you visit both days to see everyone. They are suggesting that you make reservations soon if you plan to stay at the hotel. Many of the rooms are already filled for the event. ************************************************************************** First, a spokesperson (I do not remember his name) gave us the latest gossip on STIV. He did state that he knew more than he was allowed to tell. Here goes: 1. STIV is currently called, "The Voyage Home". 2. There will be a big "something" threatening 23rd century earth. Kirk and gang (some of the old crew members have to go back in time). 3. When they go back in time, they must obtain something needed off an aircraft carrier in 1986 to combat the "something" in the 23rd century. 4. Much of the filming will take place in San Francisco and some at the San Diego naval base. 5. The court martial of Kirk will be dealt with. Sarek will come to his defense. I am not sure if anyone else will be court martialed along with Kirk. 6. The Klingon "bird of prey" ship will be used in most of the movie. Excellsior will only have a minor role if any at all. However, I think they may explain trans-warp! 7. Saavik (played by Robin Curtis) will be in the movie. 8. No mention of David's mom being in the movie. 9. Jane Wyatt (Spocks mom) will be in the movie. 10. Light breakaway or sling shot effect will be used to travel back in time. Special effects should be quite good. ILM is already working on the special effects (have been for about six months). This will be done in the Klingon ship. 11. The Klingons are pissed off. Remember they lost a ship, Valkriss (sp?) and all of the men on the lost ship. They didn' t like Genesis anyway, calling the Federation a band of pirates. Besides Valkriss had the plans in her hot little hands and did not bring the plans to the Klingon empire. Also, the Federation must have a spy!!! The Klingons shouldn't even know about Genesis. I think that that is about all that I picked up. If anything more comes into my memory, I will post it. "Live Long and Prosper!" Michael N. Great! I missed her in STIII. Was she approached for the film?
If so, why did she turn it down?
