Brother, Can You Spare a Dime? (Usenet version)

They used to tell me I was building a dream,
And so I followed them all.
Where there was mirth to read or flames to bear,
	I was always there,
	Right out on the job.

They used to tell me I was building a dream,
	With peace and glory ahead,
Why should I be standing in line,
	Just waiting for bread?

	Once I build a network,
	Made it run,
	Made it race against time.
	Once I built a network,
	Now it's done.
Brother, can you spare a dime?

Once I added power to the Sun,
	And a 780 we'd mime.
Once I worked with power, now it's done.
Brother, can you spare a dime?

Once with Arpa bucks, gee we looked fine,
	Ran with that yankee-doodly set.
Half a million bits went slogging thru Bell,
	And I was a wizard on the net;

Oh say, don't you remember? We shunned Pascal.
It was C all the time.
Say, don't you remember? I'm your pal...
Brother, can you spare... a dime?
