[net.poems] Sharon's Song

                    Sharon's Song
(to be set to a mournful C&W tune)

I'm calling you, sweetheart, from the road again
It seems that I found a dime
In three minutes it's back to the street and then
I'll call when I find the time

Bridge:
It's my way of searching for happiness
The way it just has to be
Though I cry every night for loneliness
I would die if I could not be free

          I'm a one-hit singer from a two-bit town
You know it just does not pay
Before too long my story will have got around
By then I'll be on my way

          [Bridge]

Has it come to so little so very soon?
I worked to make it this far
Watching Johnny Carson in these motel rooms
Wishing I was where you are

          [Bridge]
