[net.poems] rude awakening

mr.mincemeat@syteka.UUCP (mr.mincemeat) (12/03/83)

Mincemeat fearless dancer on the sun
Rager against the night mighty and unbowed
Reveals his true colors in an instant
Slithers among bad smells and rot
A ratty plagiarist
Scuttling between the pages of someone else's books
I paid a dollar for this harsh truth
Cheap at half the price
The used book store has loosed a monster
And here it snarls in bleak and white
Ferlinghetti says it ridiculously long ago:
I'm sometimes known as the creator
   of the immortal line
"when I was a boy I was my father."
Aw jeesuz what a rip
One of my better poems
My keener thrusts
Immaculate personal visions
Isn't mine at all, is the prior fact
Of this balding bearded beatnick
This redundant aging rhymer
I already owe you too much larry
I stand solid on your bones
But I wish this one I'd done alone.
