[net.poems] blackness

	Inside Out

floundering writhing wildly in vaccuum freefall panic
eyes wide mouth deeply black and silent
a rubber-gloved hand holds the flask to the light
peers self-consciously at the latest gyrating breakthrough
the report has just left the briefcase and focusses through thick
black glasses into the agency head
a decision is made and the lever is pulled in a hundred under-
ground rooms as the leaden doors split wide
the landmasses adjust across millenia to their final
balance and the geothermal giant falls asleep
and falls away across blank expanse on a yearly
rhythmic gyration
toward ultimate escape as the planets drop into
milky blackness
