Well, here goes a few of my own dabblings at poetry. Comments welcome. Untitled I was looking for a new melody and you gave me one of your songs. A sweeter tune I had never heard. It brightened my day - It made me smile - and my ears rejoiced with the sound. I was searching for a new me and you gave me your hand. A softer touch I had never felt. It warmed my body - It quickened my heart - and my soul was touched with the kindness. I needed a new life and you gave me your heart. A deeper love I will never know. It reaches my inner core - It surrounds my entire world - and my life will never be the same. AKL 1984 ***************************************************** Cardinal A single cardinal perched in the top of a snow-covered pine, swaying with the breeze, and causing a miniature avalanche of snowflakes to flutter to the ground below. Surveying his domain, he saw unending rows of matchbox tentaments, layered one on top of the other - carbon-copy human beings fighting for space and a place to call their own. "How sad," he thought, that they don't have any freedom. And with a shake of his head and a twist of his tail he flew away to another tree. A little boy looked out of his fifth-story bedroom window, breathing on the glass, and causing a puddle of condensation to drip to the rug below. Peering around, he saw a large, scarlet-plumed bird shivering in a tree top - tucking his head under his wing and trying to avoid the cold. "How sad," he thought that he doesn't have a home. And with a blink of his eye and a wipe of his nose he went to the kitchen for milk and cookies. AKL 1984 ******************************************** Thanks for letting me express my creative side. I like to remind myself that I can write things other than C-code. -- * From the musical keyboard of: ** * * Anita K.
