If we never loved again, or kissed,
Or held each other close,
I'd still go on without these thoughts,
Cause it's your friendship I want most.
Of all the people I have known,
You're the one I cared to trust.
I thought I finally knew your love.
I guess I still don't know enough.
And inside my heart is aching
As the feeling slowly dies.
I only want to know you,
But all I get is lies.
And I feel I should be crying,
Cause I know that's what's expected.
And it's hard to keep on trying
When my love has been rejected.
But there's no more tears inside me,
And the feeling has gone numb.
Yes, it's hard to keep on going
When you've lost a special one.
Yet, I think of all you're doing, and
I know that you'll be happy soon.
And even though I'm sad for us,
I feel a happiness for you.
So, I'll take my empty heart and go,
And hope new love will some day fill
That spot that used to trust in you,
And wants your love now, even still.
And I feel I should be crying,
