      	I Am the Daffodil

Forsythia riots in violent yellow bloom.
You pass across wet grass
and wave between the branches
You take a yellow twig
to adorn your desk.

The daffodils are yellow, too,
transparent and brave
in the face of the rain.

You eye, young man,
in Spring seeks brighter colors.
