Through that dark and cloudy night The sentries of the White did ride, Searching for Zapata's ghost With quiet tremblings deep inside. And as they rode across the sand The death-chilled wind made cold their bones, And whispered of extinguished fires; Of broken trees and weathered stones. The senorita drove them on; Her voice, remembered, would not fade. Her dress was red with blood, and torn In the schoolyard where the children played. And to this day the sentries ride On valiant steeds that make no sound. Their fists are clenched, the knuckles white -- Zapata's ghost remains unfound. derek -- Derek Zahn @ wisconsin ...!{allegra,heurikon,ihnp4,seismo,sfwin,ucbvax,uwm-evax}!uwvax!derek derek@wisc-rsch.arpa

Straight From The Heart Ken Trant My life is almost over my cycle near complete The treasure of my time on earth lay snuggled at my feet To him I'm mister wonderful unable to make mistakes I've tried my best to do my best no matter what it takes For nothing gives me pleasure so deep,so pure,so true As what I've felt since the day I first set eyes on you I thought that I was ready for a child, of my own, to hold If I knew then what I know now I could never have been so bold From little runny noses and diapers that always leak To nights I walked you to and fro that seemed to last a week Not for mountains of gold or years of good health Would I trade in the time we've spent The smiles and tears that filled my years and make up my only true wealth What I feel is not measured by weight or volume,or mass But I know that in my heart it will forever last it carries with it a history to cause ones hopes to soar with just a hint of tragidy of one whose heart was torn But it causes mountains to rumble and its made nations fall Its the most powerful and pleasant emotion of all I love you Jarrod (My First and Favorite Son).
