Old Friends

I saw an old friend
Just the other day.
It had been a while
Since that day
When we shared a smile
And we went away.
You know it was good to know
We still felt the same way.

Chorus: A kindness here,
         A soft word there,
         A memory shared.
         A simple bond,
         It lasts so long.
         It makes me strong.

We talked about some old times,
Shared another smile
Had ourselves a good time
If only for a while.
Then it came the time
To go our separate ways.
Through all the miles
And wasted whiles
I thought of you today.

Chorus:

I've wandered through
   this country
I've wandered through
   this land
There were times when
My soul was hungry,
But the hunger left again.
I've been running up in the mountains
I've been strolling by the sea
Many faces and many places
Have become a part of me.

Chorus: A kindness here,
         A soft word there,
         A memory shared
         A simple bond,
         It lasts so long.
         My friends, my home.

A Haircut

Yesterday I was a hippie,
             a vagrant,
               a bum,
A lover of people.

Today I am an executive,
           calculating,
              cold,
My world is my own.

The difference of a lock of hair.
