NEVER AGAIN
My love, I wronged you, be I damned:
The devil saw my brains were jammed,
The scum has played on me his trick,
Made me screw up and slip
Into his grossness, filth, and dirt
That caused my conscience scream and hurt.
From perfect ten, I fell to nine,
Took you with me, and teared your eye.
More couldn't do the bloody bastard
Than cause a nauseating cluster,
Which cries behind my ribs "Oh, no!"
As I am beating it to go,
To leave, and rid me of its spell
That tried to pull me down to hell
With all the creeps, so ghoulish, ghastly,
And spirits, utterly disgusting.
In little time, you can expect
I will deserve your trust, respect;
When I reach ten, I'll be convinced
That I'm again your charming prince.
What in the world can stop this wheel?
I love you heatedly, and feel
The whole idea: you and I
Is nothing short of paradise.
