Aquanautics Corp., based in San Francisco, has bought the patent rights from the developers, Joe and Celia Bonaventura, and will develop the idea. The main application they are working on seems to be underwater vehicles (a 3ft wide X 10ft long canister of this sponge could supply oxygen for 150 people), but they will probably also work on smaller, individual-sized cannisters for divers, etc. This sounds like it could allow very, very long underwater trips. I don't subscribe to this notesfile, but I thought you people might be interested. Wombat ihnp4!uiucdcs!uicsl!wombat
