< munch! gobble! chomp! chew! Why don't "THEY" fix this bug? > Did you say O2 backup, as in o x y g e n ??? This is very dangerous. If you mean that you are using a spare compressed-air source for inflation of your BC, then assuming the air is properly filtered/washed/scrubbed-of- chemicals, dust and NOx/dried and etc...then, it's a backup source of diver's breathing mixture. P-) ("..AAAHHHRRGG! Oh HAHAHAHAH!!! Surprise! it's really Nitrous Oxide! ....hahahaha! GLUB!BLURB!..") A friend of mine is into mixed-gas and (he's a PRO and uses a 7-bottle rig with a Kirby-Morgan helmet no less!) recommends that dry-nitrogen USP be used for inflation of BC's. Lastly, if you want flexibility, consider a true pony-bottle setup only utilized with something like the Scubapro AIR ][, this would provide you with a breathable backup, that nominially only adjusts your buoyancy.
