[net.rec.scuba] Dacor UL950 light recall

bako@acf4.UUCP (jOhN bAkO) (12/14/85)

For all those who don't follow product news closely, here is a bit of news.
The following is from the "Florida Scuba News"

> Dacor Corporation has ascertained that an internal gas build up during
> the recharging cycyle in Dacor's UL950 Externally Rechargable Light is
> possible. DO NOT USE OR RECHARGE THE UL950 until a retrofit has been
> completed; to do so is hazardous.
> The retrofit is for model UL950 underwater lights which have a grey or
> orange foam pad located inside the light body and between the bottom of the
> battery and the recharing port. Units with white foam pads do not need to
> be replaced.
> At no cost to the owner, your Dacor dealer will retrofit your light and
> eliminate this possible problem. If you cannot get it to a dealer, send it
> directly to Dacor for retrofit at no cost.

Luckily I found the notice while flipping through some free newsletters
that a friend brought back from the Keys. I've owned one of these lites
for 8 months wihtout problem, but I'm sure glad I saw the notice.

ps. Aren't there any divers out there with some Wrecks they'd like to share
with us all. Let's generate some traffic before the net police try to cut
our air supply.
