The latest BYTE's loaded with comments to the effect that since the 68K based personal computers have no common format for distributing software or program interchange the MS-DOS/8086 and CP/M machines will kill them in the market place. This assumes, of course, that the various vendors will follow in the triumphant path of TI and Radio Shack and stay loyal to the great god NIH. Anybody know of any plans or work to contradict this depressing future? (I somehow suspect that the assumption's that the Lisa or IBM 68K machine will establish a standard. Ought to do a lot for the resale value of current SUNs, etc.) The best solution we've found is (gag) RT-11 8" floppies. I suppose one could use the UCSD pCode common format and run interpreted PASCAL tools. Not quite what I had in mind, though. Mark Swanson ...decvax!genradbolton!grkermit!marks
