When I listen closely to the instruments being played in a variety of popular music (Eagles, Steve Goodman, Emmylou Harris, many many others) I often notice harmonica adding a lot, in a subtle fashion, to the song. I'm often impressed by the skill of the player(s) - sometimes very complex note sequences, emphasis and phrasing from what seems like a simple instrument. Can anyone suggest any records for a nascent harmonica fan? I'm not sure if I'd like "solo" performances - I guess I could find out. Perhaps some music in which the harmonica plays at least a major role. If you have any suggestions, pls mail {decvax | uw-beaver} !microsoft!gordonl thanks gordon letwin microsoft

If you like Baroque music and aren't a "purist" about it, you might like "The Pocket Bach" (Angel S-36067) by George Fields. It's a multi-track recording of several J.S.Bach pieces (including the "little" Fugue in G Minor) all on harmonica. The bass lines sort of "woof" nicely. Rich <Richardson.SV@XEROX.ARPA>

I have a number of recordings of classical music played on the harmonica by Larry Adler, John Sebastian, among others. Most of them are very hard to find now. I also would like to know about other recordings of harmonica music. By the way, I didn't see the original message. Would someone send me a copy?
