Let me interject into the 24 vs. 32 bit discussion for something
that has more tangible answers, and doesn't border on quasi-religious
beliefs to answer.
The 68851 PMMU spec. that I have dated 3/5/84 does not list ECS
as a pin. However a pin definition sheet I got later says that ECS is
listed as pin number A6. The question is: Will the PMMU drive ECS
when it has bus req'ed the 020, and is in control of the 020 bus? I'm
sure there is a later spec. on the PMMU that someone has, and perhaps
they would be kind as to look at it and inform me as to wether the
ECS pin on the PMMU is an INPUT/OUTPUT pin, or mearly an INPUT pin.
Without this, fast bus arbitration is a prayer.....
