We are interested in a machine to be used as a cheaper (and possibly better) alternative to an array processor for the finite-element number-crunchers etc. The sort of thing would have the following properties: 68020 processor, with any extra floating-point stuff 32 MB of store, upgradeable with present chips to at least 128 MB A standard terminal interface (RS232 or X-25) Some suitable hardware for medium-speed (48 Kb) file transfer Does anyone know if such a thing is marketed commercially? Naturally, we don't expect it to be very cheap. Thank you for any information. Nick Maclaren University of Cambridge nmm%cl.cam.ac.uk@ucl-cs.arpa
