[net.micro.68k] Amiga/ST and UNIX

days@glasgow.glasgow.UUCP (Judge Dredd) (10/22/85)

A couple of questions for all you unix/amiga wizards. :-)

Is anyone out there interested in UNIX on an amiga ?
Is it feasible given enough memory ?
Is there any unbiased benchmarks available for the ST/Amiga debate ?

Are Motorala going to make available 4.2 BSD source licences for Amigas, how
much ? :-)

Isn't the answer to the "Amiga's take longer to load" the fact that unlike
practically every other micro, the amiga does not have a disk directory, and
hashes everything instead ?
The 68000 and 68010 are pin-compatible, does this therefore mean that I can
rip out a 68000, pop in a 68010, and apart from minor work like having to
rewrite the entire operating system, and any programs I want to run, I have a
souped up Amiga ?

Can you increase the clock on the amiga ? what to ?

Thanx for listening.

Yes yes yes! How about NetNews on the Amiga whether it runs Unix or not?

SOURCES??! ;-) ;-) ;-O ;-o ;-o ;-O ;-O ;-} ;-D ;-D :-D :-D :-O ;-) ;-)

I'd like to see a LISPM interface actually. Or Franz or ZetaLISP.
Or maybe SCHEME! Or how about MRS or OPS5? Anyone feeling
ambitious?
