[net.micro.68k] Floating Point Chip Architecture

dgh@sun.uucp (David Hough) (11/20/85)

The following abstract is for an article to be posted to net.arch
in a few days. I am posting the abstract to notify persons who may
be interested but don't subscribe to net.arch.

               Extending Weitek Architecture

                        David Hough

                          ABSTRACT

This paper contains personal opinions of the
author which should not be assumed to be the posi-
tion of any organization. The Motorola 68881 and
Weitek 1164/1165 chips have become popular float-
ing point implementations and represent different
decisions about performance, complexity, and con-
formance to the IEEE standard. Future chip sets in
the Weitek style should incorporate some of the
     ideas that shaped the 68881.

The 9 must refer to something like IQ or ???
I don't think we need net cross posting from net.math like this...

appreciate this announcement, SO USE YOUR "n" KEY next time.... That's the
thinking man's tool.
